A bank transfer is when money is sent from one bank account to another. When a bank transfer is selected as payment method, MultiSafepay’s bank account details are provided by email.
Bank transfer, also known as SEPA Credit Transfer, is a trusted international and domestic payment method for online customers. This payment method used for making any type of euro payment within the SEPA area. A Bank transfer always includes the bank accounts of the payer and payee in the international IBAN format. The payment method is user friendly and allows you to reach a broad international audience. With MultiSafepay, you can directly link the payment method to your webshop.
When the customer selects bank transfer as payment method, the bank account details of MultiSafepay will be sent by email. Based on the settings, the sender can be MultiSafepay itself or your ecommerce platform. The email will be sent to the email address provided by the customer when placing the order.
When the bank transfer is confirmed by the customer, the transaction will be visible in your overview with the status initialized. The customer needs to transfer the payment from his or her bank to MultiSafepay’s bank account. This can be done through online banking or in person via a bank teller.
Please be advised that it can take between 1 and 3 business days for the funds to appear in the receiving account.
After we receive the payment on one of our bank accounts with the proper amount and reference, we can match the payment with the transaction and a completed notification will be sent to your MultiSafepay Control and ecommerce platform.
When MultiSafepay receives a bank transfer payment that has incorrect data and/or amount, the payment will not be linked to the outstanding transaction and will be refunded to the customer.
The transaction flow shows the different ways a transaction can be processed. This differs per payment method.
The order status indicates the status of the order, such as completed, pending or rejected. The order status is independent of the incoming or outgoing payment of the transaction.
The transaction status indicates the payment status of the transaction, such as completed, pending or rejected. Once the transaction status is completed, the amount of the transaction is added to your MultiSafepay balance.

Some rules may apply to certain payment methods. For bank transfer, the following rules apply:
Refunding more than the stated amount of the original transaction is possible with bank transfers. More information available on our refund more than original amount page
Successful bank transfer transactions have no expiring date regarding refunding, as long as the receiving bank is able to process the refund
The days and seconds active does not apply to the payment method bank transfer. The customer processes the payment from his/her own banking environment. As a result, it has a different payment flow and the setting of a days or seconds active will have no influence
However, the payment link that is provided in the Bank transfer email to the customer can be adjusted by setting a daysactive or seconds_active. Bank transfer transactions are active for 60 days. By default, payment links expires after 30 days.

In order to provide your customer with a local bank account from MultiSafepay (where available), please add the appropriate ISO 3166 code in the transaction request (i.e. “country”: “DE”,)

There are two ways to activate Bancontact as a payment method in your MultiSafepay Control:

Please follow the following steps to refund a bank transfer transaction:
Refunding more than the stated amount of the original transaction is possible with bank transfers (e.g. refunding the return costs incurred by the customer). More information is available on our refund more than original amount page. Please bear in mind that by default, MultiSafepay does not allow refunds larger than the original transaction amount and that this needs to be changed in your MultiSafepay Control
The transaction status is now initialized. As long as the transaction status is marked as initialized, the refund can be cancelled. When the transaction status is marked as completed, the refund is processed correctly. The customer will receive the refund to the bank account number in which the transaction was originally paid to, within the next business day.
A refund will only be processed if your balance on your MultiSafepay Control is sufficient.
MultiSafepay has a local bank account available for European bank transfer used by customers. As a result, the customer can process the bank transfer in a familiar and faster way through a national bank account.
MultiSafepay offers national bank accounts for bank transfers of the following countries in their local currencies:
The cost for an international bank transfer and currency conversion will no longer be deducted from the customer’s bank account. The customer will pay the regular national fees charged by the customer’s bank.
Please keep in mind that USD (Dollar) is not supported due to the very high transaction and conversion costs for the customer.
