Account balances
When you receive a payment in a currency enabled for your account, we automatically create a separate balance for that currency in your MultiSafepay dashboard. This provides a clear overview of your currencies and makes them easier to manage.
Example
- You have EUR, GBP, and BRL enabled for your account and supported in your backend.
- A customer in Brazil chooses to pay in BRL with Visa, which supports BRL.
- Your checkout displays the amount in BRL.
- The customer completes the payment, and the funds are added to your BRL balance.
- If you want to pay out the funds in EUR, convert the BRL balance to EUR. MultiSafepay applies a 4% conversion fee.
Zero-decimal currencies
Payment amounts must be provided in the smallest unit of the currency.
For decimal currencies, this means converting the amount to its fractional unit. For example, EUR 10.00 is provided as 1000.
Zero-decimal currencies don't use fractional units. For example, JPY is a zero-decimal currency, so JPY 10 is provided as 10.
Examples
| Currency | Customer-facing amount | API value |
|---|---|---|
| EUR | EUR 10.00 | 1000 |
| USD | USD 10.00 | 1000 |
| JPY | JPY 10 | 10 |
