American Express, What is it?
American Express is an additional payment method. American Express card holders can pay using their American Express card in both physical and online stores.
American Express, How does it work?
In order to pay with American Express the customer needs to fill in their card number, CVC-code and expiry date to release a payment. American express is not familiar with the 3D secure verification step. This means that payments received with American Express are not protected against fraud chargeback.
Credit card transaction received by MultiSafepay, will be processed through our fraud filter.
When using an own MID (MerchantID) from American Express, the funds are not processed by MultiSafepay. In stead they will be added to your own balance at American Express.
The following status are important when receiving a credit card payment.
|Completed||Transaction is accepted and the amount received is added to your MultiSafepay Control balance.|
|Uncleared||The payment is offered to you. You decide whether you want to accept or decline an uncleared transaction. Click here for further information about an uncleared status.|
|Declined||The transaction is declined by the account holders issuing bank or by MultiSafepay. American Express does not share the decline reasons with MultiSafepay.|
Credit card payments are not fully guaranteed. Customers can withdraw the transaction, due to their customer right protection of VISA and Mastercard.
The accountability of accepting credit card payments lies entirely with the Merchant.
How to activate American Express
When Visa and Mastercard are enabled for your MultiSafepay Control, our screening department can enable American Express on your request. Submit your request at [email protected]
When credit cards are disabled for your MultiSafepay Control, you can follow the standard application procedure credit card application to activate American Express.
When enabling American Express, the Visa and Mastercard are enabled automatically.
American Express falls into a higher price range then Visa and Mastercard, also the 3D secure code is not applicable for an American Express. This is why American Express is a separate application with MultiSafepay.
