Manual

Introduction

This is the Lightspeed app. The core Lightspeed integration can be found here

This manual helps merchants to process MultiSafepay payments as quickly as possible from a Lightspeed webshop. For some steps in this manual, assistance from your technical partner may be required.

We recommend you to install the app first on a test environment, and make sure you have made a backup.

We advise you to install the app through the recommended ways of the specific webshop system.

If you need any technical help, please contact us.

To use the app you need a MultiSafepay account. You can create a test account on https://testmerchant.multisafepay.com/signup
If you would like to set up a live account, please contact the MultiSafepay sales department:

Requirements

The application is tested using the default, one-step and one-page checkout using the default theme.

For the optimal experience of the user, we included some Javascript and use our own images. This allows us to add, for example, a drop-down for iDEAL and our own icons for other payment methods. Some themes or users added scripts may cause issues, such as missing images for payment methods. To resolve these issues, a developer may be required.

If the Javascript files are not loaded, all payment methods will continue to work. If you want to use our payment icons, you can find them on our Github page

To use the app, an API key is required. To obtain this key you need a MultiSafepay account. You can create a test account on https://testmerchant.multisafepay.com/signup

Can I disable payment methods?

Disabling payment methods

Yes, if you do not want certain payment methods to be displayed at all, you can disable them in the Payment methods ordering list. You will see the disabled payment methods in the Payment methods ordering list with a strikethrough.

If you want different payment methods disabled for different languages, you can make these adjustments in the drop-down menu under the Payment methods ordering header where you first need to select a country and then make changes on a per language basis. Default is used if no specific rule-set for a language is found.

Missing payment methods

Are you missing any payment methods? Please ensure that the payment methods are first enabled in the MultiSafepay Control and then go to the Settings page of our Lightspeed app and enable the respective payment method there again. By default, newly activated payment methods in the MultiSafepay Control are disabled in the Lightspeed MultiSafepay payments settings, so you will be required to enable them in both environments.

Can I have multiple accounts per store?

No, you can only have one account per store for our Lightspeed plugin

Can I order the payment methods?

Yes, The Payment methods ordering section on the Settings page allows you to change the order in which the MultiSafepay payment methods are shown in the checkout. The order can be changed by dragging and dropping the items in the list. Do not forget to save the settings after making a change!

If you want a different payment method order for different languages, you can also configure this. In the drop-down menu under the Payment methods ordering header you can select a country and make a change on a per language basis. The Default order is used if no specific ruleset for a country is set up.

Can I refund orders?

Yes, you can refund orders as well as credit notes. By default, you can create a refund in your MultiSafepay Control, however, refunding directly from your Lightspeed backend is possible.

To allow the possibility of refunding, you must firstly enable this setting:

  1. Log in to lightspeed.multisafepay.com
  2. Navigate Enable Refunds by scrolling down or click Enable refunds on the sidebar.

When creating a credit memo for a refund, make sure to set the status as “Not Paid”. We will ignore the “Paid” status.

If any refund is placed using the lightspeed backend a short message will be placed in the notes section of an order. This message can contain an error if anything happens.

Known issue

Currently there are some know issue related refunds.

Errors

Refund of amount and item at same time is not allowed.

Some billing suite payment methods, like AfterPay, do not allow a partial amount and a full item in a single request. For example:

  • A shopping has 3 items and 1.70€ shopping cost. If you refund 1 item and 0.40€ this will fail.
  • Refunding an item and an amount separately will not cause any issue.

Same refund done in short period

We do not allow multiple refunds with the same amount, even if the refund contains different items. The current delay is 5 minutes.

How can I log in?

About the new login method

In early 2021, we have changed the login method for the MultiSafepay Payment app for Lightspeed eCom. The old login method was password-based, while the new method uses the single sign-on provided by Lightspeed. This means you can directly log in via the Lightspeed eCom store to our settings page of the app.

The steps

  1. Log in to the /admin section of your Lightspeed store

  2. Navigate to Apps in the sidebar

  1. Click on Purchased apps / Aangeschafte apps

  2. Go to apps in the side bar

  3. Click on the name of our app: MultiSafepay Payments

Alternatively: paste “/admin/store/apps/1517” after the base URL of your store.
This should bring you to the store page immediately.

  1. On the store page click on Go to App / Ga naar App

Please note: This particular login method uses the single sign-on provided by Lightspeed and therefore you do not need to click the Login button.

How can I send payment reminders within Lightspeed?

In the Lightspeed app, MultiSafepay’s Second Chance tool cannot be used, as Lightspeed orders expire after 12 hours. However, similar to Second Chance, Lightspeed offers a functionality that allows you to configure payment reminders for orders which are still Pending.

The functionality allows you to enable and configure payment reminders as well as creating payment reminder emails. For more information regarding this option, step-by-step instructions are given on the official website of Lightspeed

Where can I find my shop ID?

Your shop ID can be found by following the instructions below:

  1. Log into the /admin area of you webshop app
  2. Click in the bottom left corner on Help
  3. In the popup a store ID will be visible. This is also known as the shop ID.
